How to Gift 50 People Without It Feeling Mass-Produced

The problem with gifting fifty people is that they compare notes. What scales without feeling generic, what it costs per head, and what to order when.

The difficulty with gifting a large team is not logistics. It is that the recipients compare notes — within an hour of the boxes going out, fifty people know that everyone got the same thing, and the gift is understood as a line item rather than a gesture. Every useful decision in corporate gifting comes back to that.

This is the hub for everything we have written about bulk and corporate gifting.

The three ways to escape “everyone got the same thing”

1. Make the object shared rather than individual. One thing the team owns together — a record of the year, the project, the people who joined and left. It is not fifty gifts, so nobody compares. It is also cheaper per head than fifty separate objects.

2. Vary one element. Same object, one thing different per person: a name inside, their own start date, their own line. The unit cost barely moves and the comparison changes from “we all got the same” to “they did this for each of us”.

3. Segment by tenure, not by seniority. Someone at eight years and someone at eight weeks are not in the same gifting situation. Two or three tiers by how long people have been there reads as thoughtful; tiers by grade read as a hierarchy chart.

What does not work is spending more. Fifty identical expensive objects are fifty identical objects.

What it costs per head

Team size Sensible per head What that buys
Under 20 ₹800–1,500 Something individual and made
20–50 ₹500–1,000 Individual, with one varied element
50–200 ₹300–700 A good shared object, or a print set each
200+ ₹200–500 Volume vendor territory, not ours

Flat ₹70 delivery per address, which matters more than it looks when a distributed team needs fifty separate deliveries rather than one.

The timeline, which is where these actually fail

Made-to-order takes 5 to 14 days from order to doorstep, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR. We dispatch once a week, on Mondays, so ordering by a Friday rather than over a weekend saves a full week.

But for a bulk order the printing is never the long pole. Two things are:

Collecting addresses. Ask three weeks out, not three days. Someone will not reply.

Collecting content, if colleagues are contributing photographs or lines. Set a deadline a week before you intend to order and expect two people to miss it.

For Diwali, add more — everyone in the country is ordering at once.

The branding question, briefly

A logo makes the object about the company. That is correct for a trade-show giveaway and wrong for a gift to your own team, who already know where they work.

The rule that holds: brand the packaging, not the object. The box can carry the company; the thing inside should be usable without advertising your employer in someone else’s home.

When we are the wrong supplier

Said plainly, because it comes up.

Above about a hundred units. A hand-design process is not what large-volume gifting is for. A bulk vendor will beat us on unit price and turnaround, and we would tell you so.

When you need it branded prominently. We can include a logo, but the whole argument above is that logos work against what makes these land.

When it is next week. There is a design and proofing stage before anything prints.

When the team is four months old. A personalised record of a team that has not done anything yet has nothing to record. Buy something good and ordinary.

Frequently asked

How do I gift a large team without it feeling generic? Make the object shared rather than individual, or vary one element per person. Spending more on fifty identical things does not help — they are still fifty identical things.

What is a reasonable corporate gifting budget per head in India? ₹300 to ₹700 for teams over fifty, ₹500 to ₹1,000 for twenty to fifty, ₹800 to ₹1,500 under twenty.

How far ahead should we order? Three weeks, including time to collect addresses and any contributions. More for Diwali.

Can you deliver to individual home addresses? Yes — flat ₹70 per address to any pin code in India, which suits distributed teams better than shipping in bulk to one office.

Should corporate gifts carry our logo? On the packaging, yes. On the object, usually not — it makes the gift about the company to someone who already works there.
