Personalised Gifts for Sister in India

A sister is the hardest person to surprise, because she already knows what you would buy her. Personalised gifts for sister work for the opposite reason: the photos already exist, on both your phones, and nobody has ever printed them. The terrible ones from school. The wedding. The years you did not speak much.

The shortlist

What to make for her.

Four formats, four different kinds of sister. All of them are laid out by hand around your photos and captions — none of them is a template you fill in.

The main one

A magazine about her.

A personalised photo magazine made as a gift for a sister, open on a spread of family photographs
Custom Magazine8–40 pages · printed on a 300 GSM matte cardstock cover with 170 GSM non-glare smooth inner pages

The format people underestimate until they hold one. It is her on the cover, and then however many years you want to cover inside — which for a sister usually means starting somewhere unflattering and ending somewhere she will not admit made her cry.

  • A cover with her name on it, set like a real masthead. This is the page she photographs.
  • One spread per era — school, college, the move, the wedding. Chronology does most of the work.
  • A page of messages from cousins, her friends, your parents. Collected on WhatsApp, laid out by us.
  • Captions in your voice, not ours. The jokes only the two of you understand are the point.
If she is not the display type

The quieter formats.

Not every sister wants a keepsake on a shelf where people can pick it up. Three that ask for less room:

🃏

Photo Card Deck

One memory per card, 27 or 52 of them. It lives in a drawer and comes out when someone visits — which is more often than a book on a shelf gets opened.

📸

Polaroid Pack

From 30 prints, ₹270. On her mirror or her fridge within an hour of opening, and she chooses which ones go up.

📔

Memory Diary

Printed spreads at the front, blank pages after. For the sister who writes things down, and for the year she is starting something new.

Occasions

When people actually order these.

Sister gifts are not seasonal, whatever the internet says in August. The four reasons people order, roughly in order of how many:

  • Her birthday — the default, and the one worth planning a fortnight ahead.
  • Her wedding or her vidaai — the years before she leaves, in one object she takes with her.
  • Raksha Bandhan — one occasion among several. Order about two weeks out and it is comfortable.
  • She moved away, and neither of you is good at phone calls. This is the parcel that says it instead.

The practical bit

Getting the photos together.

🗂️

One shared album

Make it, add the cousins and her friends, and give them a date. Chasing people individually is what makes these late.

📄

Send as documents

On WhatsApp use Document rather than Photo, so nothing gets recompressed on the way to us.

🖼️

Old prints are welcome

Photograph them flat in daylight, no flash, filling the frame. The childhood ones are usually the best material you have.

✍️

Write the captions first

Before you choose photos. What you want to say decides which pictures earn a page, not the other way round.

👀 Nothing prints until you have seen it

You get a full digital proof on WhatsApp and you can ask for changes as many times as you need — the wrong photo of her on page four is a message, not a reprint. Once you approve it: Dispatched every Monday, then 2–3 days to Delhi NCR, 3–5 days across the rest of India. If you are working to a date, the safe answer is to start about ten days out, and a fortnight if other people owe you photos. Shopping for a brother instead? The same magazine, built the other way round — start at the custom magazine.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

A photo magazine about her is the one that lands — her photos, your captions, laid out like a real magazine. It starts at ₹499 for an 8-page issue. If she is not the display-it type, a photo card deck or a pack of polaroids from ₹270 does the same job without asking for shelf space.
About four per page. An 8-page magazine needs roughly 32, a 24-page one about 96. Send more than you need — choosing which ones earn a full spread is part of what we do.
Yes, and it is usually what makes it. Add them to the WhatsApp thread after you order, give everyone a deadline, and send messages as well as photos — a page of what people wrote about her reads better than any caption you can write alone.
Of course. Captions print exactly as you write them. Most sibling orders are half English and half whatever the two of you actually say to each other.
Dispatched every Monday, then 2–3 days to Delhi NCR, 3–5 days across the rest of India. Design and your approval happen before that, so give yourself about ten days before the date you need it — more if you are collecting photos from other people.
No. Rakhi is one of the occasions, not the point of it — most sister orders are birthdays, her wedding or farewell, or no occasion at all. If you are shopping for Rakhi specifically, order about a fortnight ahead so there is room for photos to arrive late.

Not sure which one she would actually keep?

Tell us what she is like and what you have got photos of. We will tell you which format fits and roughly how many pages it wants — before you pay for anything.

Nothing gets printed until you have seen it. We send the full digital preview on WhatsApp and keep tweaking until you approve every page.
