₹70 to every serviceable pin code in India. A metro, a district town, a hill station. Same number, on every order, for every format.
That is not how most Indian e-commerce prices delivery, and the difference is worth explaining.
What distance-based pricing actually does
Charging by distance sounds fair — it costs more to get a parcel to a remote pin code, so the customer there pays more.
The effect is that the places with the fewest local options pay the most to order from elsewhere. Someone in a small town already has fewer shops, fewer choices and a longer wait. Distance-based delivery adds a surcharge on top of that.

What it costs us
Genuinely more for some orders than others. A parcel to a far pin code costs more to move than one across Delhi NCR, and the flat rate means the near orders subsidise the far ones.
That is the trade, and it is deliberate: the alternative is a price that punishes distance, and distance is not something the customer chose.

Who comes out ahead, honestly
A flat rate is not equally generous to everyone, and pretending otherwise would undo the point of explaining it.
It favours the heavy, far order. A 100-page hardcover album going to a hill town costs the same ₹70 to deliver as a thirty-print pack going across Noida, though one weighs many times what the other does and travels many times as far. How heavy an album is →
It asks slightly more of the light, near one. Someone in Delhi NCR ordering a single print pack pays a little more for delivery than the journey itself costs. That is the subsidy, and it is the part of the arrangement worth being open about, because the person paying it is the one who would have paid least under a distance-based rate.
Why ₹70 is shown rather than folded into the price
The alternative is a delivery line reading zero, with the cost moved into every product price. It looks kinder and it is not.
Folded in, delivery is charged per item. Three things in one parcel would each carry a share of a journey that happens once. Stated separately, it is charged per order, and the three things travel on one ₹70.
Folded in, the product price stops meaning the product. A ₹499 magazine would really be a ₹429 magazine and a hidden ₹70 of courier, and you could not tell which from the page.
A separate, flat, stated number is less attractive on a banner and more honest on a receipt.

Take a 60-sheet photo diary — ₹769 all in — and send it three ways:

The price column never moves. The last column is what to plan around: the further the address, the more of the calendar goes to the courier, so the earlier the order should go in. Why prepaid makes it possible
Flat delivery works partly because there are no refused parcels to absorb. A cash-on-delivery business has to price returns into everything, and those costs land on the customers who do take delivery.

What it does not buy you
⚠️ Flat pricing is not flat speed. Transit still varies: 5 to 14 days from order to doorstep nationally, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR, because NCR is where it is made and packed.
The rate does not vary. The clock does, slightly.

What the ₹70 includes after dispatch
The parcel is hand-packed in Noida and goes by Bluedart, Delhivery or DTDC, by air or surface depending on the route. Once it leaves, a tracking link arrives by email, and the tracking page finds it with the tracking code and the last four digits of the phone number on the order. None of that costs extra anywhere in the country.
One charge per order, and per address

Where flat stops

At the edge of the courier network. The flat rate covers every serviceable pin code. If an address is somewhere couriers rarely reach, check it before ordering rather than after.
Not at festival time. The ₹70 does not rise in Diwali week or in the wedding season. Couriers do slow down in those weeks, which is a reason to order earlier rather than a charge.
What it means for what you buy
One useful consequence: adding a second item costs nothing extra to deliver. A print pack and a magazine ordered together ship on one ₹70, which makes the pairing far better value than it looks.
At ₹270 plus ₹499 plus ₹70, that is ₹839 for a wall and a shelf.
