Page counts move in fours, because a folded sheet makes four pages. So the ladder is not smooth, and the steps are not evenly priced.
Knowing where they fall is worth a few hundred rupees on most orders.

Where the value actually sits
The steep part is at the bottom. Going from 8 to 16 pages doubles the book for ₹100 — that is the best-value move on the entire ladder, and it is the one people most often skip.
It flattens after 24. From 24 pages upward you are paying roughly ₹29 a page with very little movement. The book gets bigger; the per-page rate stops improving.
The first eight pages carry the fixed costs. ₹62 a page at the smallest size is not a markup on small orders — it is the setup, the design and the proof, spread over fewer sheets.
The two sizes that are poor value
⚠️ 12 pages, if you have 60+ photographs. For ₹50 more, 16 pages holds 16 more images. Twelve is only right if that is genuinely what you have.
⚠️ 28 pages. It costs ₹100 more than 24 and the per-page rate does not improve at all. Either stay at 24 or go to 32, where the rate finally moves again.
Count first, then read the ladder
The right size is the one your photograph count fills, and reading the ladder before counting is how people end up padding.
Divide your count by four. That is your page number. Round to the nearest multiple of four downwards, not upwards — a full book beats a padded one, and it costs less. How to choose the photographs →
When several small books beat one big one
At the top of the ladder, ₹1,099 buys 40 pages. The same money buys two 16-page books and a print pack, which for a decade-long archive is usually the better object — one book per period rather than one enormous one. Which format suits a huge archive →
Frequently asked
How much does a photo book cost per page? From ₹62 a page at 8 pages down to ₹27 at 40. The rate improves fastest at the bottom of the ladder.
What is the best-value size? 16 pages. Going from 8 to 16 doubles the book for ₹100, which is the biggest single improvement on the ladder.
Why do page counts go up in fours? One folded sheet makes four pages, and saddle-stitching binds folded sheets.
Which sizes should I avoid? 28 pages, where the per-page rate does not improve over 24. And 12, if you actually have enough for 16.
Should I round up or down? Down. A full smaller book beats a padded larger one and costs less.
