Do you have fifty-two?
A card deck has no filler position. Every card is looked at individually, one at a time, which means a weak card is much more visible than a weak page in a book. In a 32-page magazine a mediocre photograph sits next to a good one and disappears. On a card it is its own object.
So: can you name fifty-two? Not fifty-two photographs — fifty-two things. Reasons, people, memories, in-jokes, days.
If you have to strain past about thirty-five, buy 27. A tight 27 is a better object than a padded 52, and it is ₹700 cheaper.

What the 52 is really for
The classic use is “52 reasons I love you”, one per card, and it works because a romantic relationship genuinely produces fifty-two distinct things — which is unusual.

What the 27 is really for
One card per week for half a year. One per person for a normal-sized group. One per month for two years, with three spare. Or simply the twenty-seven best things, with nothing weak in it.
Twenty-seven is also the right size for a deck that will be read in one sitting at a table, because attention runs out at about thirty cards.
The test before you order
Open a note and list them. Not photographs — the things.
If you reach fifty-two without effort, buy 52. If you slow down in the thirties, buy 27 and put the strongest twenty-seven in it.
Almost nobody regrets buying 27. People regret padding a 52.
The birthdays and anniversaries that fit exactly
Take away a title card and an ending card and the two sizes leave 25 and 50 — which happen to be two of the numbers people most want a deck for.

The 30th is where people pad. Thirty cards for thirty years sounds tidy, but it means a 52-card deck with twenty cards still to find something for. The best twenty-five, chosen, is the better deck.
Organising fifty-two
A list of fifty-two things written straight down stalls in the thirties. Split it first.
Four groups of thirteen is the easiest structure to fill: four people, four cities, four years, or four kinds of card — the funny, the tender, the ordinary and the future. Thirteen of one kind is a short list, and four short lists are easier than one long one.
The grouping is for you, not for the printed deck. Nothing on a card needs to say which group it came from, and a shuffled deck mixes them anyway.
If you land in between
Forty good things is the awkward number: too many for 27, not enough for 52.
Buy 27, with the best twenty-five. Then write the other fifteen into a letter that goes in with the deck, or keep them for the next occasion. Nothing is wasted, and nothing weak is printed on a card.
What the extra ₹700 actually buys
Worth being concrete, because 27 to 52 is a 70% price increase for 93% more cards.
Twenty-five more cards, at ₹28 each. That is the arithmetic, and it is good value — IF the twenty-five exist. Cost per card falls from ₹37 to ₹33.
What it does not buy is a better object. More cards, the same stock, the same printing and the same rounded corners. The 52 is better only when it is full, and worse when it is not, which is the opposite of how most size upgrades work.
Only our diaries behave the same way, where the extra length is blank pages somebody has to fill. A longer magazine holds more of a fixed archive and is straightforwardly more; a longer deck needs you to have more to say.
