By the fourth year, for a lot of couples, something has arrived that reorganises the photographs — a child, a move to another country, a parent who needs looking after, a business that eats the calendar.
The visible result is the same in every case. The two of you appear in fewer and fewer pictures, and the camera roll becomes about the new thing.
That is not a problem to fix. It is a reason to print year four while the earlier years are still findable, because the gap between “we have not printed anything yet” and “we have four years and a baby to sort through” gets wider every month.

Four years is the last point at which the whole archive is still in one place — usually two phones and one cloud account. By year eight it is across a dead handset, a laptop that was replaced, and a WhatsApp thread that compressed everything it touched.
