What is genuinely new at fifteen years has nothing to do with the material: the children are old enough to be the ones giving.
Why that changes the gift
At year ten a child is small. At fifteen there is usually a teenager in the house who remembers most of the marriage, has their own photographs of it, and can write.
That turns the anniversary gift from something one spouse buys into something a family assembles — which is a different object with a different voice, and it is the shape that twenty-fifth anniversaries take too.
It is also the first year the couple can be given a book they are not in charge of.
How a family-assembled book works
One contributor per section, or one per year. Fifteen years splits neatly, and it means nobody has to write much.

What the children should actually contribute
Left to organise themselves, contributors send photographs. The photographs are the part the parents mostly have.
What only the children can supply:
- A memory the parents have forgotten, written plainly. Two sentences is enough.
- Photographs from their own phones — the parents caught not posing, which is a category that barely exists in a parent’s own camera roll.
- The years they remember and the parents were too busy to document, which is usually everything from about year six onward.

Fifteen years is not twenty-five
Worth saying, because the temptation is to make the silver-jubilee book ten years early.

If it is a gift from one spouse rather than the family
The family-assembled version is the one that is new at fifteen, but it is not obligatory, and there is a reason to keep it between the two of you.
Fifteen years of a marriage includes a lot that the children were not part of — the years before them, the decisions they never heard about, the things that were hard. A book made by one spouse can include those. A book the whole family contributes to usually cannot.
Both are good objects. They are not the same object.
