One question separates them: will this be read once properly, or reopened for years? Read once, a magazine. Reopened indefinitely, an album. A “photo book” in Indian retail usually means one or the other depending on who is selling it, which is most of the confusion.

“Photo book” is not a standard term. That is the honest thing to know before comparing prices. Different sellers use it for perfect-bound softcovers, for hardbound albums, and for saddle-stitched magazines. Ask what the binding actually is before you compare two listings — the word tells you nothing on its own.
What the binding decides
Saddle-stitched — folded sheets stapled through the spine. Light, flexible, lies flat enough to read comfortably, and puts almost all of the cost into printing and layout. Caps out around 40 pages.
Perfect-bound — pages glued at the spine, like a paperback. Holds more pages, but the inner margin disappears into the gutter, so a photograph cannot cross a spread.
Lay-flat hardbound — each spread is one continuous sheet. A photograph can cross the centre without vanishing. This is the only binding where a full-bleed double-page image genuinely works, and it costs about three times as much to build.
If someone shows you a mock-up with an image spanning two pages, that is a lay-flat claim. Worth confirming.

About four photographs fill a page in any of them. Count first — a book padded to fill pages is the commonest and most visible mistake in this category, and the padding is always the images you nearly did not send.

The paper question, which settles most comparisons
Ask for two numbers: cover GSM and inner GSM. Ours are 300 and 170.
- Inners under about 130 GSM show through — you see the reverse of the next spread behind the photograph you are looking at. This is how a cheap photo book announces itself regardless of binding.
- Covers under about 250 GSM curl within a month, especially in humidity.
Someone who buys their own stock answers both instantly. Someone reselling a print service does not have the figures. It is the fastest quality filter available and it costs one message.
Where each one genuinely loses
Magazine: will not survive a decade of weekly handling, and caps at 40 pages. It is built to be read properly a few times and kept.
Perfect-bound book: the gutter eats the inner margin, so spreads compromise. Fine for single images per page, poor for panoramas.
Lay-flat album: poor value under about 80 photographs. A thin hardbound album is the worst object in this category — all construction, no content — and at that volume a magazine is both cheaper and better.
When none of them is right
Fewer than 30 photographs. A print pack, or a single framed image.
Low-resolution images only. Chat apps discard data permanently, and soft is soft at any binding. Use them small rather than full-page.
They are not sentimental about photographs. Some people genuinely are not.
Under five days. All three have a design and proofing stage before printing — 5 to 14 days from order to doorstep, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR, flat ₹70.
