Most Indian siblings past a certain age spend Raksha Bandhan in different cities, and the day has quietly reorganised itself around that.
Which creates a specific problem the traditional form does not account for: the rakhi itself has to arrive before the day, and so does anything you send with it.
The deadline, which is the actual content
Raksha Bandhan is the one Indian festival where a late delivery breaks the ritual rather than merely disappointing. The thread has to be on his wrist on the day.
