Most anniversary lists are one list, reused. But the three years are genuinely different problems, because two things move between them: how much shared material has piled up, and what the gift is now expected to say.
Year one is a celebration of having got here. Year three is a statement about where this is going. The same object does not do both jobs.
What changes across the three
| Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Archive | About one book’s worth | Too much for one book | Needs real editing |
| The gift says | We made it a year | This is steady | This is going somewhere |
| Risk | Overdoing it | Repeating year one | Under-doing it |
| Novelty | Everything is a first | Firsts have run out | Depth replaces novelty |
| Right format | A record of the year | One chapter, not the whole thing | An album, or something with a future in it |
| Roughly | ₹499–699 | ₹599–999 | ₹999–2,299 |
The middle column is the one people get wrong, and the reason is in the “risk” row.
Year one
You have roughly one book’s worth of material and nearly everything in it is a first. This is the easiest of the three, and the format almost picks itself: a record of the year, 16 to 24 pages, ₹599 to ₹699, about four photographs to a page.
The trap at year one is spending above the material — an album built for four hundred images, filled with ninety, is visibly half a book.

Year two, and why it is the hard one
Year two has a specific failure mode: doing year one again, slightly bigger.
If last year was a record of the year, this year cannot be another record of the year. It is the same gift with different photographs, and she will notice — not because she is ungrateful, but because the first one worked because it was a surprise about being seen, and a sequel is a format.
What works instead is going narrower rather than bigger:
- One chapter properly — the trip, the move, the year she changed jobs
- A card deck of thirty specifics, from ₹999, which is a different object entirely
- A photo diary she writes in, ₹699 to ₹1,299, which grows rather than being finished
- The thing she has been postponing for two years, arranged and paid for
The pattern: at year two, depth beats scale. There is no longer any novelty left in the relationship, so the gift has to supply the specificity instead.
Year three
By three years there is more material than any single object can hold, so the work moves from gathering to editing, and that is where the value now sits.
An album, ₹1,299 to ₹2,299, holding 80 to 400 photographs, is the format that finally has enough behind it. Three years of a relationship, edited down and put in order, is a real piece of work and it reads as one.
The other direction that works at year three is something with a future in it rather than a past — a booked trip, a shared plan, a thing you are starting together. Year three is when the question quietly changes from has this been good to where is this going, and a gift that only looks backwards can read as an answer to the wrong question.

When to ignore all of this
When she has told you what she wants. A stated preference outranks a framework.
When the relationship is not in the place the year number suggests. Three years does not automatically mean a where-is-this-going gift, and delivering one when the answer is unsettled makes the anniversary about something else.
When the date is close. Made-to-order takes 5 to 14 days from order to doorstep, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR, and we dispatch once a week on Mondays. Add two to four days for design and your proof approval, and order three weeks ahead.
Frequently asked
What should I give for a second anniversary? Something narrower than year one rather than bigger — one chapter, a card deck of specifics, or a diary that grows. Repeating the year-one gift at a larger size is the commonest mistake at year two.
Is a third anniversary a bigger occasion than a first? It is a different one. Year one celebrates having got there; year three tends to say something about direction, and a gift that only looks backwards can miss that.
How much should each year cost? Roughly ₹499 to ₹699 at year one, ₹599 to ₹999 at year two, and ₹999 to ₹2,299 at year three — driven by how much material there is, not by escalating for its own sake.
When is an album worth it? Around year three, when there is genuinely enough to fill 80 to 400 pages without padding. Earlier than that it looks like a book somebody abandoned.
How far ahead should I order? Three weeks. Printing is 5 to 14 days, dispatch is weekly on Mondays, and there is a design and proof stage in front of that.
