Very little, and what does change is specific. Most advice either treats the two as identical or invents a difference that is really just a bigger budget.
Three things genuinely change. Everything else is the same person.
The three that change
| What changes | Boyfriend | Husband |
|---|---|---|
| The archive | Growing, and yours to hold | Deeper, and partly his family’s too |
| The home | His space, which you visit | Shared, so a gift enters your own room |
| The audience | Mostly the two of you | Two families, with expectations |
1. The archive gets deeper, and stops being only yours
With a boyfriend, the photographs are on your phone and his, and that is the whole set.
With a husband there is a wedding, which means a professional shoot, and there are two families with their own albums going back to before you met him. The material stops being something you own and becomes something you have to ask for — which is more work and a much better gift, because it includes years you were not there for.
2. A gift for a husband lands in your own house
This is the one most advice gets backwards. It is usually framed as freedom — you know the space, so you can buy for it.
It is actually a constraint. Anything you give him, you also live with. A large framed thing on a shared wall is a decision for both of you, and choosing it alone as a surprise is choosing for two people. A gift he keeps in a drawer is his. A gift on the wall is furniture.
That does not apply to a boyfriend, whose room is his own problem.
3. There is an audience now
Anniversaries after marriage tend to be observed by more people. That raises the floor — doing nothing gets noticed — and raises the risk of a gift that performs rather than gives. The counter is unchanged: specific and private beats visible.
What does not change at all
He is the same person, with the same taste. If he did not want a watch as a boyfriend, he does not want one now.
The best gift is still the one he cannot buy himself. That is the whole engine in both cases, and marriage does not touch it.
“I don’t need anything” still means need, not want. The full version of that problem is identical before and after.
Sentiment still loses to specifics. A line about a real Tuesday outperforms a line about forever, at any stage.
What that means for a record
The format question barely moves. The size does.
| Format | Holds | Ours |
|---|---|---|
| Print pack | 30 loose photographs | ₹270 |
| Photo magazine | 32 to 160 images, in order, with words | ₹499 to ₹1,099 |
| Photo diary | A record plus pages he writes in | ₹699 to ₹1,299 |
| Hardcover album | The largest format, lay-flat | ₹1,299 to ₹2,299 |
About four photographs fill a page. Two or three years together is usually 16 to 24 pages; a marriage with a wedding and family archive in it more often wants 32 to 40, and a hardcover album rather than a magazine.

The husband version is a bigger gathering job, not a bigger shopping one. Ask his mother for the old photographs early — that request has a long turnaround and it is the part that makes the object different from anything you could have made as a girlfriend.
If you are still working out sizes by year, anniversary gifts year by year covers the scaling.
When the distinction does not matter
When you have been together ten years unmarried. Archive, shared home and audience are all in place already. The legal status is not what changed the gifting.
When the marriage is recent. Year one is still the boyfriend-shaped archive with one large event on the end.
When you are buying for the occasion rather than the person. None of this helps — the problem is upstream of the format.
Timing
5 to 14 days from order to doorstep, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR, flat ₹70 anywhere. Dispatch is weekly on Mondays, so a Friday order catches that week’s dispatch and a weekend order waits seven days. Add two to four days for design and your proof approval.
If family photographs are involved, add a fortnight for the asking. That is the real timeline.
Frequently asked
Does gifting change after marriage? Three things change: the archive gets deeper and partly belongs to his family, the gift lands in a home you share, and more people are watching. His taste does not change.
Should a gift for a husband be more expensive than for a boyfriend? Not inherently. The usual difference is that there is more material to work with, which makes the gift bigger without making it pricier per unit.
What is the mistake people make gifting a husband? Choosing something for a shared wall alone. Anything visible in a home you both live in is a decision for two people.
Is a photo book a good gift for a husband? Yes, and usually a larger one than for a boyfriend — a wedding and two family archives typically push it to 32 to 40 pages.
How far ahead should I start if I need family photographs? Add about a fortnight to whatever you were planning. Asking relatives is the slow part, not the printing.
