In a long distance relationship the gift has a second job: it has to physically travel, and most guides ignore that entirely. Half the ideas on a typical list are perishable, fragile, or need her to be home at a specific hour to sign for them.
So these are sorted by lead time, and the address section at the bottom matters more than any single idea on the list.
Arriving in days, not weeks
| # | Idea | Reaches her in |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A voice note, transcribed and printed later | Instantly, then posted |
| 2 | Food delivered to her door that evening | Hours |
| 3 | A book from an online seller | One to three days |
| 4 | A subscription she uses | Instantly |
| 5 | Flowers via a local florist near her | Same day |
| 6 | A playlist with a written line per track | Instantly |
| 7 | Paying for something she keeps postponing | Instantly |
Numbers one and six are worth more than they look. A distance relationship is short of artefacts — things with a date on them — and a written line per track is an artefact.
Made to order, so plan for it
| # | Idea | Lead time | Roughly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | Print pack of thirty photographs | 5–14 days | ₹270 |
| 9 | A record of the visits so far | 5–14 days | ₹499–1,099 |
| 10 | A photo diary she writes in | 5–14 days | ₹699–1,299 |
| 11 | A card deck of specifics | 5–14 days | From ₹999 |
| 12 | A book of the calls and the screenshots | 5–14 days | ₹499–699 |
| 13 | A countdown to the next visit, on paper | 5–14 days | ₹499 |
| 14 | An album, if it has been years | 5–14 days | ₹1,299–2,299 |
5 to 14 days from order to doorstep, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR, flat ₹70 to every pin code. We dispatch once a week on Mondays, so a Friday order catches that week’s dispatch and a Saturday order waits seven days for the next.
Add two to four days for design and your proof approval in front of that. For a dated occasion, order three weeks out.
Things to do rather than send
| # | Idea |
|---|---|
| 15 | Book the next visit and send only the ticket |
| 16 | A recurring standing call, in her calendar, that you never cancel |
| 17 | Watch the same thing at the same time |
| 18 | Send a physical letter, on paper, by post |
| 19 | Arrange something with a friend who is near her |
| 20 | Learn to cook the thing she misses from home |
| 21 | Take the leave first, then tell her |
Number twenty-one outranks most objects. In a distance relationship the scarce resource is time in the same place, and a gift that produces some of it is not competing with a parcel.
Why photographs work unusually well at distance
Everyone in a distance relationship has the same problem: the archive is all screenshots and video calls, and none of it feels like a shared life.
Printing the visits — three trips over two years, in order, with what happened under each — is the only version of that relationship that exists as an object. It is also the only one that does not live inside a phone she associates with missing you.
Twelve to sixteen pages is usually right for a couple of visits. About four photographs fill a page, and screenshots print fine at that size if they came from the phone rather than a compressed forward.

The address, which is where these actually fail
More long distance gifts arrive late because of this than because of shipping.
Get the full address in writing, from her, in one message. Not from memory and not from a parcel you sent last year. Flat number, floor, landmark — Indian addresses without a landmark are slower.
Send a phone number that she answers. Couriers in India call rather than buzz, and an unanswered call is a failed delivery attempt and another day.
Check she will be there. A hostel with a reception is fine; an office is fine on a weekday. A flat where she is out from nine to seven is where parcels go back to the hub.
If it is a surprise, the address is the hard part. Ask a flatmate. Asking her directly is usually better than a parcel that comes back.
When not to send an object at all
When she is moving soon. A student between hostels or someone about to relocate does not want more to pack. Send the visit instead.
When customs are involved. Anything crossing a border can sit for weeks and arrive with a bill. This page is written for delivery within India.
When the occasion is in four days. Nothing made to order gets there. Use the top table.
Frequently asked
What is a good long distance gift for a girlfriend? Something that turns the relationship into an object — the visits so far, printed in order. Distance relationships are short of artefacts, which is exactly what printing produces.
How long does a personalised gift take to reach her? 5 to 14 days from order to doorstep, 5 to 12 to Delhi NCR, flat ₹70 anywhere, with a design and proof stage of two to four days in front. Order three weeks ahead of a dated occasion.
What can I send that arrives the same day? Food to her door, flowers through a florist local to her, or anything digital. Made-to-order printing cannot be compressed into a day.
How do I get her address without ruining the surprise? Ask a flatmate or a friend near her. A wrong address costs more days than the surprise is worth, and parcels do come back.
Do screenshots and video call photos print well? Usually yes, from the original phone. A screenshot forwarded through chat several times has been compressed each time and will look soft.
