One spread per year, and why it works here
Ten years is exactly the span where a chronological structure earns its place.
Twelve or thirteen photographs a year across ten spreads forces an even distribution, which matters because the last two years are heavily photographed and the first two are barely documented at all. Left to itself, the book becomes about age twenty-eight and twenty-nine.
